Kathy Chiappetta (Serendipitous) > Smokey Joe's Bar-B-que and Welcome to Stamford sign.  Smokey Joe's is across from Giovanni's (formerly the Half Way House).  According to Bob G, Smokey Joe's was  Phil Franchina's Restaurant during our youth.   It was a nifty little nightclub.
Kathy Chiappetta (Serendipitous) > Darien received its name and charter in 1820 (was originally part of Stamford and known as Middlesex Parish previously).  Thaddeus Bell rode to New Haven (orig capitol of CT) on horseback to obtain Darien's charter.  Town could have been called "Bellville", but Thaddeus preferred Darien.
